Beacon Falls is located in New Haven County, CT with a population of 6,049 people. The Naugatuck River runs through the town and is considered the Central Naugatuck Valley.
The town was settled in 1678, from Derby, CT settlers and was founded in 1871. Industry was booming during the 19th century, with large and impressive factories along the North Main Street. A well known company during this time was the Beacon Falls Rubber Shoe Company. The rubber industry was booming in the Naugatuck valley during this time, after the rubber patent by Charles Goodyear from CT was invented. Other businesses that were successful in this area made shoes, buttons, powder flasks and whip sockets. As the industry was booming, population during 20th century had doubled. After the Great depression, may of these factory building were either used for storage or were destroyed.
