How much will my tree service cost?

Each tree is different, so Precision Cutting Services bases their pricing on access (can our trucks reach the tree?), the size of the tree, the level of difficulty (are there wires involved?), and the amount of clean up (do you want us to chip the brush or cut the wood into 18″ lengths?). Because of these factors, we will give you an estimate before your job is scheduled.

How can I set up an estimate?

Please call our office 203-466-2400 and let us know what tree work you need done. If you need trimming done, please specify what kind of trimming you are expecting. We can trim out dead branches, shape, top, and thin trees.

Are estimates free?

Yes, we offer estimates free of charge, however, we prefer to group jobs on a location basis. Your estimate will be given when we are in your area. It is most helpful if trees are marked (for example, with paint or string), so we know exactly which trees you’d like us to look at in case you are not home. Estimates are normally given within 1-2 weeks after you call our office. It is helpful if you provide us with your work and/or cell phone numbers.

Do I need to be there when the estimate is given?

No. If appointments need to be scheduled, an extra fee may be involved. If you are not home when the estimate is given, PCS will leave a card in your mailbox or front door listing the prices for the specified tree work. If further dialog is needed, you will receive a follow-up call.

What steps should I follow once the estimate is given?

If you approve of the price listed on the estimate, give our office a call, and we will put your job on our schedule. If there are various price options listed on your estimate, be sure to specify which you have selected.

How and when do I pay?

Upon completion of your job, we will mail you an invoice for the amount agreed upon in the estimate. If you prefer, our tree specialists can also receive your payment at time of tree service. We accept cash or checks.

Do you spray trees for insects or other diseases?

No, we only offer tree trimming and removal.

My tree is not accessible for a bucket truck. Can you still trim it?

Yes, we have experienced climbers who are able to accomplish many jobs unreachable with equipment.

Will you leave marks in my yard?

Our trucks are about the size and weight of a UPS truck. If a tree is only accessible through a yard, we do our best to wait until the ground is very dry in the summer, or frozen during the winter. Please understand that our trucks are heavy and we cannot always guarantee that no damage will be done to the yard, and we cannot be held responsible for repairing such damage. For extra charges, we do offer mats to help distribute the weight of the truck. Please be mindful that this does not ensure no ruts will be made.

Is Precision insured?

We are fully insured for liability resulting from injury to persons or property. We can provide you with a certificate of insurance upon request.

Is stump grinding included in the estimate?

Stumps will be left approximately six inches from ground level unless specified to the contrary in the estimate. Stump grinding is not included our service, unless agreed upon in the estimate. Please note that stump grinding does not include removal of the stump grindings. Precision is not responsible for damage to underground wires. It is your responsibility to know, inform, and mark where underground wires are located.

Can I keep my wood for firewood?

Yes, we prefer to give all firewood to you, our customer, and/or your contacts. If you have no need for firewood, we cut the wood into 18″ lengths and notify our contacts, who we allow to pick up all the wood free of charge. On very large trees or multi-removals, sometimes we use one of our skid loaders to load and haul it away, as we have access to a log truck. Please realize that Precision Cutting Services reserves the right to decide what to chip, and what to save as firewood. With 180 horsepower chippers that chip up to 18″ diameter, sometimes it is easier to chip the entire tree. We can save some wood if needed.

Can you trim my trees at any time of the year?

Yes, we work year round! In summer (the growing season of a tree), it is easiest to evaluate the health of the tree and do minor trimming or thinning. However, during November through January (a tree’s dormant stage), it is the best time for the health of a tree to do heavier pruning. Keep in mind that with no leaves on the tree, we have better visibility when working along roads. Our job is also made easier during this time, not only because there are no leaves, but also due to flowers/hostas, your lawn, etc. not needing to be avoided.

“No clean up” is written on my estimate. What does this mean?

This means we let all the brush for you as the homeowner to clean up. This is usually half of the normal price, as it takes less time, crew members, and equipment. You may specifically ask for Precision Cutting Services to leave the brush, or we may list that as an option in your estimate.
